During the last few years, Buenos Aires has consolidated itself as an almost mandatory destination for those visitors who wish to learn Spanish.

This phenomenon reflects the importance the language is gaining in the training of professionals in all latitudes and its expansion in world business.

Figures speak for themselves. Last year, around 20 thousand people came to Buenos Aires with the only purpose of learning Spanish. The authorities estimate that the inflow of students will continue to increase this year, just like it has been happening since 2004.

Likewise, the very beautiful sceneries in Argentina give tourists the possibility to carry out the “traditional” language learning process as well as to practice it in tours around the various regions in the country.

Moreover, the high academic level of the institutions offering Spanish courses –divided in almost equal parts amongst tertiary institutes, universities, private institutions, foundations and associations-, and the great quality of the educators fosters this tendency. In fact, there is a varied educational offer.

There are courses divided by levels, Spanish for business, for children, for tourists, for sportsmen, and so on.

Recent statistics have proved that foreign students –mainly from England, the United States, France, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Israel- belong to various age groups. They devote an average of 15 to 20 hours per week to learning Spanish.

They may choose either private or group lessons. Visitors usually stay at family houses, though lately, most of them have been choosing to stay at any of the many hostels located in the various neighborhoods in Buenos Aires.
